Review: Sweet’N Low - Zero Calorie Sweetener

As you all know, I always try to eat healthy and look for options that I can use to create healthy recipes for my family in my kitchen. I learnt most of my cooking because of my hubby's love for food. He loves to eat and I love to try new recipes for him. Now, in summer time, during the weekends, when he is at home, he always want to drink cold drinks like lemonade, smoothies or if I don't make anything then soda :) Not to mention he loves sweet.

So, recently, I got a sample and share opportunity from my favorite site CROWDTAP  for  Sweet'N Low- Zero Calorie sweetener. For my hubby, I usually make desserts with the powdered sugar that I use in the kitchen but using sweetener instead of powdered sugar, never crossed my mind. I never paid attention to the thought of using sweetener in my kitchen until the day I got the box of Sweet'N Low in my hands.

This is the box I am talking about:

  • 1- 50-Count Box of Sweet'N Low
  • 5 Sweet’N Low samples with coupons
  • 6 Cards with skinny Sweet’N Low recipes

About Sweet'N Low : It is a brand that was introduced in United States over fifty years ago and is now available in over 50 countries. They manufacture sugar free and low sugar products throughout the world.

Where To Use : You can use it for sweetening, cooking and Baking. It works well both in hot or cold beverages.

I opened one small packet and tasted it, surprisingly, It taste just like sugar. Then, I thought that if taste just like sugar then how its different than sugar.
I learnt the difference is that basically you can use it in anything where you use sugar but the amount you need will be much less. As per the information on the box, Each premeasured packet has the sweetening equivalence of 2 teaspoons of sugar and contains less than 1 gram of carbohydrates.

Measurement to Substitute Sweet'N Low For Sugar: As per suggestion on the box, replace half the sugar in the original recipe with an equivalent amount of Sweet'N Low. For eg. Instead of 1 cup of granulated sugar, you can use 24 packets of Sweet'N Low(= 8 teaspoons =2 Tablespoons)
That means for the same recipe you are using less sugar and hence less calories. Isn't that interesting? I got to know this fact during this sampling.
I received few cards with skinny Sweet'N Low recipes. I decided to give one recipe a try. It is super easy recipe and you all can try it.

  • 16 packets Sweet’N Low® zero calorie sweetener
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1 package (16 oz) frozen unsweetened strawberries
  • 4 fresh strawberries
  • Serves 4

This is the recipe for 4 that I refereed and I took half of all the ingredients because I was making only 2 glasses.
                                                    Frozen strawberries

                                                                  1 cup water

I took ready made lime juice

                                                       Sweet’N Low - 8 packets

                                                         Fresh Strawberries to garnish

Place frozen strawberries, water, lime juice and Sweet’N Low in blender container in that order. Cover tightly or hold lid down with hand.

Blend 20 to 30 seconds or until slushy.

Pour into glasses. Garnish each glass with a fresh strawberry. I made for only 2 glasses.

This is perfect summer drink for family get together as well as for kids. It taste so delicious and I bet no one will know it that it has Sweet’N Low sweetener in it and not the ordinary sugar unless you tell them.

Hubby and I really enjoyed our Strawberry Granita Freeze sitting out on the patio. Perfect summer is here for me....
